SpellForward treats your spelling performance and practice records as private personal information. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you always have over your data.

Spelling performance is private
Your exercise accuracy, missed words, and personal word lists are never published, shared on social networks, or displayed on public leaderboards. There are no public profiles and no public scores.
Secure authentication
Accounts are protected with secure authentication, email verification, and password reset. We never store payment card details directly—billing is handled by our payment processor.
You can delete your data
You can delete your personal practice data or your entire account at any time from your settings page. Removal is permanent and cannot be undone.
No shame-based notifications
Reminders are optional and encouraging. We never send guilt-trip messages, lost-streak warnings, or comparisons to other users. You can turn all learning reminders off.
Spelling is not intelligence
We never claim that spelling ability indicates intelligence. SpellForward is an educational practice tool, not a measure of your worth or capability.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name and email address, used to create and manage your account.
- Practice data: your answers, accuracy, difficult words, personal word lists, and progress records. This is treated as sensitive personal information.
- Accessibility preferences: your chosen font, text size, spacing, contrast, and motion settings, stored to personalize your reading experience.
- Optional consent: analytics are collected only after you give explicit consent. You can decline without losing any features.
2. How we use your information
- To deliver personalized spelling practice and adapt future exercises to the patterns you find difficult.
- To show your own progress over time, measured against your personal starting point—never against other users.
- To send optional emails such as welcome verification, practice reminders, weekly summaries, trial notices, and receipts—only if you have chosen to receive them.
- To operate and secure the service, including preventing abuse and fraud.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your practice data or personal information.
- We do not use your private writing or custom word lists to train third-party language models without your explicit opt-in consent.
- We do not create public profiles, public scores, or social sharing by default.
- We do not make medical claims. SpellForward does not diagnose, treat, or cure dyslexia or any medical condition.
4. AI features and your data
- Where AI features are available—such as generating practice sentences or memory clues—they run against an approved spelling dictionary before anything is shown to you.
- AI-generated exercises are checked for correct spelling before display.
- Your private writing is not used for model training without your explicit consent. You can use SpellForward fully without enabling any AI features.
5. Data retention and deletion
- Your practice data is kept for as long as your account is active so you can track long-term progress.
- You can delete your personal practice data from your settings page at any time.
- You can delete your entire account, which removes your account information and associated practice records. This action is permanent.
6. Payments and billing
- Subscription billing is handled by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card details directly in the application.
- We retain billing history and renewal terms so you can review past payments, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your account page.
- Failed-payment messaging is sent to help you restore access; no practice data is lost during a payment issue.
7. Cookies and analytics
- We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and remember your accessibility preferences.
- Privacy-friendly analytics, if enabled with your consent, help us understand which features are useful. No analytics run without your opt-in.
8. Children
- SpellForward is designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
- We may update this policy as the platform evolves. We will note the updated date below and, where significant, notify you within the app or by email.

A note on emotional safety
We designed SpellForward so an adult can open it at work or in public without embarrassment. Your practice is private, your pace is your own, and your progress is measured only against where you started. Spelling ability and intelligence are not the same thing—and your data is never used to suggest otherwise.
